of dollars into mexico where startedup expenses and rages remain reasonable. but for how long? phil lebeau is live in mexico with the latest. hi, phil. >> reporter: hi, maria. this is one of the hottest areas in the world when it comes to expanding and manufacturing. the reason why? more companies are pumping money into this country. in fact, when you look at foreign direct investment into the country of mexico, it will top $35 billion this year. much of that coming from the auto and aerospace sectors. and here's the reason why. they used to be putting most of it into china. but look at the difference in cost when you factor in wages and shipping, et cetera. the manufacturing outsourcing index makes it clear that mexico is a much more competitive place for many companies, including the ford motor company. >> mexico has proven to be a great source for our products, obviously, great high quality, the team members are very motivated. and there's a great, healthy supply base. >> reporter: there's another company that is benefiting from the boom in manufacturing here in mexico. kansas city sout
